At Home Pet Euthanasia Service and Aftercare Pricing

An invoice will be sent before an appointment. There is a base price for vet euthanasia as well as a fee for the type of aftercare selected. We strongly suggest making the payment before your appointment in order for us to spend more time focusing on your pet the day of. If payment is made the same day of your appointment, it can be made with cash or any major credit card.

Your pet is cremated and his/her ashes will be spread in Final Gift’s Angel View Pet Cemetery.

0-30lbs and cats- $150

30-60lbs- $175

60+ lbs- $200

Private Cremation Cost

Your pet is cremated individually and his/her ashes will be returned to you typically 1-2 weeks after the appointment in one of six complementary urns of your choosing.

A memorial paw print can be made during the appointment for $30

If you pet passes naturally at home we can still provide cremation services. The pricing is the same as listed above depending on your choosing with an additional $120 travel fee.

There is an $90 additional fee for Giant breed dogs. (100lb+)

What to expect for your at home pet euthanasia appointment

Once we arrive for your appointment, you can choose a space where your pet is comfortable for us to set up. Before any drugs are given, we like to discuss the process of dog and cat euthanasia thoroughly. We always give a sedative first to ensure that your pet is completely sedated and sleeping peacefully. This allows you to spend time with your pet before they pass. Most pet owners comment that they haven’t seen their pet this comfortable in months or years. When you are ready, an injectable medication will be given to help them peacefully pass away.

We take care of your pet’s transportation and aftercare in partnership with Final Gift Pet Memorial Center. Final Gift offers both private cremation and communal cremation. If choosing a private cremation, you will typically receive your pet’s ashes back to you in about 1-2 weeks after your appointment in one of six complementary urns of your choosing. If choosing a communal cremation, you will not receive ashes back and your pet’s remains will be placed in Final Gift’s Angel View Pet Cemetery.

Using Final Gift’s paws eTrack system we are able to offer transparency and accountability from pickup to delivery of your pet’s remains. Final Gift also provides 24/7 grief support by phone through their Pet Compassion Careline. 

Advanced Training

Dr. Ray has completed the CAETA (Companion Animal Euthanasia Training Academy) course to refine his techniques. The course is described as expert training in the art of gentle euthanasia. These skills have helped to shape the way Dr. Ray performs end of life care.

Additional Logistical Information

Appointments can be made within 24-48 hour notice but we do not provide emergency euthanasias at home. If your pet is actively in distress please bring them to your local veterinary hospital immediately. 

In the event you need to cancel your appointment please let us know within 24 hours of your appointment so we can prepare to help another family in need.

In the event your pet passes at home we are able to transport your pet and provide cremation services.

As a small business with a large service area we will not always have available appointments at any given time. We can provide contact information for similar in-home euthanasia services in your area if that is the case.

Commonly Asked Questions About At Home Pet Euthanasia

 

Does pet euthanasia hurt?

Not at all. After receiving the initial sedative your pet will be under anesthesia. They will be sleeping peacefully, unaware of their surroundings, and free of any pain.

Should my pets be present during euthanasia?

We recommend allowing other dogs to be present for the entire euthanasia process or having them say goodbye after their housemate has passed. This will often provide closure to co-habitating dogs. Many pets will become anxious in the days following the passing of their housemate. They may search for their friend or seem depressed when not given closure. 

How does pet euthanasia work?

The injectable medication they receive following sedation will turn off their brain signals which will in turn stop the heart and lungs from functioning. 

Can my pet be euthanized if it bit someone?

New York State requires a waiting period of 10 days to ensure the dog has not shown symptoms of rabies. Consult dog bite law euthanasia guidelines for more information.

How long does euthanasia take?

A typical appointment takes anywhere between 30 minutes to 1 hour. We want you to take as much time as you need with your pet while they are sedated. Once the final injection is given into your pet’s vein, they will pass quickly (10-45 seconds). 

Do I stay with my pet during the euthanasia process?

Yes, we encourage you to be present during the procedure. If you are uncomfortable at any point let us know. There is nothing wrong with stepping away for the final injection if you are uncomfortable. This is your personal decision and we want you to be able to grieve in your own way.
